How to Use Kitchen Table

Thanks for joining Kitchen Table!

Kitchen Table is an online community designed to engage residents, businesses, not-for-profits and others in the work of Guelph-Wellington's Our Food Future circular food economy initiative.

Our Food Future will use Kitchen Table to:

  • Launch Challenges: Ask the community for ideas and implement or fund the best suggestions.

  • Hold Discussions: Get food leaders from across the region to engage on important issues.

  • Promote Events: Highlight upcoming events and register attendees.

  • Collaborate with Community: Join or create groups to take deep dives into a topic or advance a food-related project.

  • Find/Share Resources: Use Town Square to connect with collaborators and grow circular food businesses

How to Participate:

  1. Sign Up and Create a Profile: Include a picture and details about yourself and your interests. Read our privacy policy.

  2. Join Discussions and Add Your POV: Every discussion has a comment section which authors will be monitoring. Add your thoughts, comments and questions to keep the conversation going.

  3. Respond to Challenges: Have a great idea for a challenge? Use the “Add Idea” button on the upper-left of a Challenge page to share your idea (how to respond to challenges).

  4. Upvote Ideas You Want to See Implemented/Funded: Some challenges will use community support/votes when they are being evaluated to win. Be sure to upvote/like your favourite ideas using the "upward" arrow button.

  5. Suggest a Discussion/Challenge: Have an idea for a discussion we should host or a food-related challenge you’d like community feedback on? Let us know and we’ll be in touch.

  6. Connect With the Circular Food Community: The Kitchen Table aims to connect and support everyone working to build a more sustainable food system across the region.

You can use this site to:

  • Promote your circular food initiative: Create a new post (using the “+” button on the upper-right) or put an update in your feed about what you’re up to. If you’re a business and you have an idea, need or offering, post it in the Town Square

  • Promote your circular food event: Tell us about your event and we can list on the landing page.

  • Connect with collaborators: Launch a public or private group to work on a food initiative or chat through the direct message function (see envelope icon in upper-right).

If you have ideas for how we can make this platform even better, please direct message David Messer or Alison Springate, or email KTAdmin@guelph.ca
