As part of the Baker District Redevelopment, the Windmill Group is launching a video interview series—Sowing Change. The series connects with food and sustainability leaders across Guelph and explores the question: what does it take to build a better food future?
The series' first interview is with the Executive Director of Guelph's Smart Cities Office, Barbara Swartzentruber. Barbara was central to creating Guelph-Wellington's winning Smart Cities Challenge initiative, Our Food Future, as well as Grow Back Better, Guelph-Wellington's10-point plan to respond to the impacts of COVID-19 on the regional food system.
Our Food Future aims to take a whole-community approach to increase circular business practices and create a more sustainable, equitable food system across the region. It leverages federal Smart Cities funding to drive amazing collaboration across more than 29 public, private and not-for-profit organizations towards this shared goal.
But how can we build momentum and continue this cross-community collaboration in the long term?
